On April26, 'Spring Flourishing - Chinese Contemporary Calligraphy Exhibition' co-sponsored by Mickiewicz University, Jiangxi Provincial Federation of Literature and Culture, and Jiangxi University of Science and Technology was displayed in the exhibition hall of Botanical Garden of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, RepublicofPoland.

Zhang Weixin, member of the party group and vice-chairman of the Jiangxi Provincial Federation of Literature, delivered a video speech at the opening, and more than 100 people attended the exhibition, including the Director of the Mayor's Office of Poznań, Professor Halina Wasilewska, Director of the Chinese Department of the Institute of Oriental Languages of Adam Mickiewicz University, Dr Bo Yikang of the Adam Mickiewicz University, teachers and students of Jiangxi Normal University of Science and Technology, and the Adam Mickiewicz University. University, more than 100 students and teachers attended theopeningceremony.

In his speech, Zhang Weixin talked about Chinese calligraphy as a unique art form of the Chinese nation with a long history and rich connotation. This exhibition can let Polish friends feel the charm of Chinese calligraphy more intuitively and understand Chinese history and culture more deeply. We also look forward to further promoting cultural exchanges and co-operation between China and Poland through the exhibition, and enhancing the friendship and understanding betweenthepeople.

The 'Spring Flourishing-Chinese Contemporary Calligraphy Exhibition' features 43 pieces of calligraphy works created by calligraphers organised by the Jiangxi Provincial Calligraphy Association, which are taken from poems singing about spring and the famous places in Jiangxi throughout the Chinese history. The works on display are in all styles of calligraphy, be it the regular script with delicate strokes, the ancient and heavy seal script and official script, or the cursive script with a wide range of styles, all of which show the calligraphers' profound calligraphy skills and unique artistic style. They interpreted the classics with ink and brush, and perceived the traditions with their hearts, allowing the Polish people to appreciate the profoundness of Chinese culture through the appreciation oftheworks.

During the exhibition, Zhang Chunqin, member of Jiangxi Provincial Calligraphy Association and teacher of Jiangxi University of Science and Technology Normal, held a lecture entitled 'Principles of Chinese Calligraphy' for the teachers and students of the Chinese Department of Adam Mickiewicz University and set up an on-site experience session, which was warmly welcomed by the teachersandstudents.

'Spring Flourishing - Chinese Contemporary Calligraphy Exhibition' is Jiangxi calligraphy out of the country to the world, international cultural exchanges a useful attempt. The exhibition was successfully displayed in Poland, promoting cultural exchanges and mutual understanding between China and Poland, Mickiewicz University in Poland were sent to the Jiangxi Provincial Federation of Literature and Culture, the Provincial Calligraphy Association sent a letterofthanks.
